Saber Blog Update (10/30/21) Happy Spoopy Day!

Happy Spoopy Day! Otherwise known as Halloween.

I know, I know, if you are reading this on the day it posted, it’s technically the day before Halloween. No need to remind me, I’m well aware. It’s been a good while since my last update and I sure hope everyone has had a fantastic October. Please excuse me if there are any typos. I once again find myself up in the late hours of the night writing this on the fly.

Anyways, I Hope you enjoyed the pumpkin carving. Benny the deer from Walk With Me was chosen as this years design. In the past I’ve used some of my other characters such as Light (yours truly), Faye Fletcher, and even Bee. It’s something I try to do every fall. I get a little better at it each year, but I’ve still got some things I want to improve.

Oh, by the way. If you would like take a crack at carving your own Benny Pumpkin, here is the exact design I used to make this. Fair warning though. It is a little bit complicated and can easily fall apart if not done carefully. I recommend carving all the small detailed pieces first, then moving to the larger areas.

To use this, simply save the image, print it out and use it as the stencil for your carving. And most importantly,

Have fun!

Now, I’ve got some new images I want to share that I recently made featuring fan art of various popular media characters.

I also have a small animation in the works that I think you’ll enjoy once it’s completed. It’s nothing huge, but I like how the initial test are going. So you can look forward to that in the near future.

The first image you see features Ottsel Tess from the popular Jak and Daxter video game franchise. Though you won’t really see her like this through most of the game. (Spoilers) She was human or um..Elven? I don’t know, they never really explain what they are in the game since they all have big pointy ears. The point being she was human-ish through the majority of the series, until the end of the third game when she is transformed into a little ottsel just like Daxter. But hey, she’s definitely not complaining. She is one of my favorite characters and I wish she served more of a role in the series. “it’s a hobby.”

Our second image is a personal favorite of mine. I don’t know how many people here have watched Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, but it is an absolute masterpiece of animation and pure badassery. I highly recommend watching it if you have not. Though, fair warning, it is without a doubt the most violent and bloody cartoon I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely not recommended for small children. Genndy Tartakovsky, if you are unaware, is the creator of Dexter’s Lab, Samurai Jack, Sym-Bionic Titan, and the original Star Wars Clone Wars. He is a master when it comes telling a story without the use of dialogue and often uses sound and ambience to created tension and help push the story along. Primal is an extremely unique animated series featuring the two characters I’ve drawn here. Spear (The Caveman) and Fang (The dinosaur). The show starts off as one thing and quickly evolves into something entirely different. I won’t spoil anything for you, but the first season leaves off on a cliff hanger which has you excited and itching for more.

Finally to end our journey. I have once again drawn my two favorite medieval foxy dorks. Disney’s Robinhood and Maid Marian. Why do I always draw them? I have no idea, but I’m honestly obsessed. It’s just up there in my top my all time favorite Disney movies. I just hope and pray they never ruin it with a CGI remake. Which I’ve unfortunately heard some rumors they might be doing for Disney Plus. …I really hope those are just rumors.

Well, that appears to be all for this Saber Blog Update. Now before I clock out, let me leave you with this.

I have long since recognized that we are currently in a season that is unprecedented in our modern history. Though there is nothing new under the sun, I won’t lie to you. These next few months are going to be pretty rough. The good news, is that Glory is just around the corner. We just need to weather the storm until then. So no matter what happens this November, don’t loose hope and don’t loose faith. Your victory is fast upon you.

And with that, keep up the good fight.

Woof!
